West Sacramento Celebrates Independence Day with Family, Fun and Fireworks at Sutter Health Park

11th Annual Fourth on the Field Fireworks Show Hosted by Sutter Health Park

The Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento was buzzing with excitement on Thursday evening as people gathered to watch the Fourth of July fireworks display. Holli Wood, who arrived early with her children, secured their ideal spot in the shade to avoid the crowds.

The ballpark hosted the 11th annual Fourth on the Field celebration, featuring an Independence Day away game between the River Cats. Before the fireworks, attendees enjoyed live music by Sacramento’s Dunsbar Road, shopped with local vendors, and sampled food truck offerings. To beat the heat, Dinger’s splash pad and cooling tent were open, along with plenty of spots to grab a cold treat.

Val Gomez, attending for the first time instead of having a family fireworks show, emphasized the importance of celebrating independence and family on the holiday. The event recognized and thanked service members for their contributions. Across the street at Drake’s at the Barn, another watch party was taking place for the fireworks display.

With no City of Sacramento fireworks due to COVID-19 restrictions, Wood highlighted how spending time with family and celebrating freedom has become a tradition for many at West Sacramento’s riverfront display.
