Westfield Launches Fire Prevention Program Using Cutting-Edge Smart Home Technology

Westfield introduces Ting smart home technology to prevent electrical fires

Ting, a cutting-edge property and casualty company based in the US, has launched a new program aimed at preventing home electrical fires. The program employs smart plug-in sensors to monitor a home’s electrical system, identify potential hazards, alert homeowners and guide them through necessary repairs to prevent catastrophes.

In collaboration with Whisker Labs, Westfield is offering the Ting sensor and three years of fire prevention service for free to its customers. This initiative is part of Westfield’s commitment to ensuring their customers’ peace of mind by providing advanced warning to prevent potential home fires.

Ting is an innovative smart home technology that offers advanced warnings to mitigate fire hazards before they become disastrous. It can also detect faults in the utility grid that may cause damage to homes and potentially contribute to wildfires in high-risk areas. Additionally, Ting can predict issues that may lead to water damage inside a home.

Westfield aims to distribute the fire hazard sensor and service to 10,000 homeowners at no cost this year, with a goal of reaching over 20,000 more homeowners in the next three years. This new technology aligns with Westfield’s mission of providing insurance products and solutions that protect their customers and communities for over 176 years.
