The National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available for those in crisis by calling or texting 9-8-8. On Wednesday, July 3rd, WFPK Mental Health Day will take place. During this day, listeners can call 502-814-WFPK (9375) and request a song to be played from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Alternatively, requests can be emailed to studio@wfpk.org or sent as a voice memo to the same email address. It’s important to remember that mental health is just as important as physical health and should not be overlooked or stigmatized. One way to support mental health is by understanding that it’s crucial for those with privilege to do research and find ways to support Black people and people of color in their communities. It’s also essential to make permanent changes in our communities to combat racism and ensure that everyone has access to the resources they need for mental wellbeing.
