Wild Thang Takes Home the Crown at the 2024 Sonoma-Marin Fair ‘World’s Ugliest Dog’ Contest in North Bay

In the 2024 World’s Ugliest Dog competition held at the Sonoma Marin County Fair in Petaluma, Calif., an 8-year-old Pekingese named Wild Thang emerged victorious. This marked the fourth time Wild Thang had competed for the title, coming in second place in the previous three contests before finally winning. Despite his unusual appearance, Wild Thang’s unique charm and personality won over both the judges and audience alike.

Rome, a 14-year-old pug owned by Michelle Grady, came in as the runner-up and recipient of the People’s Choice award. Rome was well-loved by all due to his friendly and lovable personality. The competition was fierce with eight contenders this year, but ultimately it was Wild Thang who took home the top prize.

As the winner of the World’s Ugliest Dog competition, Wild Thang received a trophy and a cash prize of $5,000. The event has become a beloved tradition at the Sonoma Marin County Fair and celebrates the unique beauty and personality of dogs who may not fit traditional standards of attractiveness. Despite their unconventional appearances, these dogs are cherished by their owners and fans for their individuality and charm.
