Sunderland’s new manager, Regis Le Bris, has yet to finalize the squad for the upcoming season and several players are garnering interest from other clubs. Goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, midfielder Jobe Bellingham, and winger Jack Clarke are among the players attracting attention.
Southampton, who have secured promotion back to the Premier League, is reportedly interested in signing Clarke due to his potential to excel at the top level. However, Sunderland’s asking price of £18 million for Clarke has deterred Southampton from making a move. The club believes that this price is too high and has caused them to reconsider their interest in Clarke.
Despite this setback, Sunderland still holds leverage in negotiations as Clarke has two years remaining on his contract with the club. It remains to be seen if Southampton will make a move for him or if he will remain with Sunderland for another season.
