Wimbledon 2023: The Race is On to Win the Crown as Carlos Alcaraz and Marketa Vondrousova Return!

Wimbledon 2024: TV channel guide and streaming options

The upcoming Wimbledon tournament is eagerly anticipated by tennis fans, as defending champions Carlos Alcaraz and Marketa Vondrousova gear up to return to the Championships. Last year, Alcaraz’s surprise victory in the men’s final brought attention to the emergence of the next generation of tennis stars at SW19. Meanwhile, Vondrousova made history by becoming the first unseeded winner of the women’s title.

With uncertainty surrounding the fitness of former champions Djokovic and Murray, Alcaraz is expected to face stiff competition from men’s World No 1 Jannik Sinner this year. On the women’s side, Iga Swiatek will be the top seed but she is not as dominant on grass as she is on other surfaces. This makes for an unpredictable and wide-open tournament. Emma Raducanu will also be back in action after missing out last year due to injury.

For viewers in the UK, Wimbledon will once again be broadcast on BBC One, BBC Two, BBC iPlayer, and the BBC Sport website. The tournament kicks off on July 1st with matches starting on outside courts at 11am BST. It runs until July 13th and 14th with the men’s and women’s singles finals scheduled for those respective days. The Wimbledon main draw takes place on June 28th following qualifying matches conclusion. Fans can tune into wimbledon.com or follow The Independent’s live blog for updates and key first-round matchups during that day .

Wimbledon has set a record prize money of £50m for this year’s tournament; with £2.7m going to each men’s and women’s singles champion respectively; while £60,000 is set as first round prize money for singles highlighting its prestige and significance as one of Grand Slam Tennis Tournaments
