Yankees Strengthen Bullpen with Veteran Left-Hander Tim Hill: Adding Another Experienced Arm to the Mix Amid Injury Woes

Tim Hill signed by Yankees as a left-handed reliever

The Yankees have recently strengthened their bullpen by signing left-hander Tim Hill, who was recently designated for assignment by the Chicago White Sox. Hill, a 34-year-old veteran, brings a wealth of experience to the team having spent most of his seven pro seasons with the San Diego Padres. In his career, he has a 4.30 ERA and a 1.380 WHIP in 347 regular season games.

The Yankees hope that a change of scenery will help Hill regain his form and provide a boost to their struggling bullpen. In order to make room for Hill on the active roster, left-hander Clayton Andrews was designated for assignment.

The Yankees’ bullpen has been hit hard by injuries this season, with key relievers like Ian Hamilton and Nick Burdi on the 15-day IL, and Jonathan Loaisiga, Scott Effross, and Lou Trivino on the 60-day IL. Despite these setbacks, the team has managed to maintain a solid bullpen ERA of 3.41, which ranks sixth best in the majors. Adding Hill to the mix gives the Yankees another experienced arm to help anchor the bullpen as they continue to navigate through the challenges of the season.
