Abu Dhabi Tourism Sees 24 Million Visitors in 2023, Surging by 55.5%

In 2023, Abu Dhabi’s tourism industry experienced a significant increase, welcoming approximately 24 million visitors compared to 18 million in 2022. This represents a growth of 55.5%, according to data from the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi. The growth was driven by an impressive 27% increase in hotel guests and a staggering 54% increase in international visitors, contributing about 49 billion dirhams to the GDP.

Key markets like India, Russia, the UK, China, and Saudi Arabia played crucial roles in driving tourism in 2023. Visitors were drawn to Abu Dhabi’s vibrant entertainment calendar that featured over 150 events, including pristine beaches, natural landscapes, cultural sites, iconic monuments such as Qasr Al Hosn, Qasr Al Watan, and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Additionally, museums, cultural festivals and art exhibitions at venues like the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Manar Abu Dhabi Public Art Gallery attracted significant attendance.

Abu Dhabi’s tourism industry received a boost from a remarkable 44% increase in meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions events that attracted over 960 thousand participants in more than 2477 events. This influx of visitors explored the city’s attractions and dining options resulting in an impressive 21% increase in food and beverage sector revenues. Major entertainment events like the Mother of the Nation Festival and Formula One Etihad Airways Grand Prix as well as cultural events such as the Al Hosn Festival and Liwa Festival further solidified Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a global entertainment hub for tourists.

Overall, the success of Abu Dhabi’s tourism sector is due to its diverse offerings that cater to all types of tourists. With its rich history and culture combined with stunning natural beauty and modern amenities it has become an ideal destination for travelers seeking unique experiences.
