In terms of ozone particles, Bangor secured the fifth spot in the overall ranking and tied for first place in the cleanest metropolitan areas in the United States. Additionally, Bangor also tied for first place in the category of cleanest metropolitan areas in the country for 24-hour particle pollution.
On the other hand, Long Beach, California was ranked as the most polluted city by ozone, while Bakersfield, California took the top spot for worst year-round and short-term particle pollution. The rankings are based on average levels of particles in each city and were calculated by the Environmental Protection Agency.
