During Regionals over the weekend, Bartlesville High track and field qualified 12 student athletes for State. The usual suspects who made it in for BHS included a pair of jumpers and long-distance runners who have been in contention for championships all spring.

One of the athletes to watch will be Gentry Turner, who is expected to be the favorite to win the two-mile at State this weekend. Turner has also run a sub-five-minute mile so far this season, making him one of only a couple girls to do so.

Head coach David Ayres discusses a few other Bartlesville qualifiers who will be competing at the 6A State competition on Friday and Saturday in Oklahoma City. Ayres talks about how proud he is of all the athletes who qualified and how they have worked hard all season to get to this point. He also notes that they are ready to take on whatever challenges come their way at State and give their best performance yet.
