Black Mamba vs. Nile Crocodile: A Dangerous Encounter in Kruger National Park

The error that led to the black mamba falling into the crocodile’s jaws

In Kruger National Park, a dramatic clash between a black mamba snake and a Nile crocodile occurred along the banks of the Shingwedzi River. The river is known for its challenging environment, as it is home to both crocodiles and hippos, making it difficult for other animals to navigate safely.

As Spanish cinematographer Giosuè Spinosa observed, the black mamba snake approached the river’s edge in search of a way to cross the water. However, the crocodiles in the area quickly detected its presence and one attempted to catch it. Despite the snake’s swift movements, it managed to evade the crocodile’s attack and swiftly slithered across the river’s surface.

However, as the black mamba tried to leave the water in a muddy area, its speed slowed down. Seizing the opportunity, a crocodile quickly swam towards the snake and managed to grab it with one bite. The crocodile then took its meal underwater to consume it.
