Breaking Down the 2024 NFL Draft Class Rankings: Which Teams Fared Well and Why?

What is the Ranking of the Jaguars’ 2024 Draft Class by Sports Illustrated?

The 2024 NFL Draft has been over for a week now and people are starting to review the draft classes of all the teams in the league. According to Sports Illustrated, the Jacksonville Jaguars’ draft class has been ranked among their AFC peers, coming in at No. 14 out of 16 teams. They rank ahead of only the No. 15 Buffalo Bills and the No. 16 Tennessee Titans. While some critics have pointed out that the Jaguars’ draft picks were selected ahead of where they were projected to go, which could be a cause for concern, Trent Baalke, general manager of the Jaguars, defended these selections stating that they were going to be the pick at No. 17 before the trade back.

The Houston Texans are ranked No. 10, while the Indianapolis Colts are ranked No. 5 by Sports Illustrated. However, one of their picks, wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., was selected at No. 23 which some have questioned as he was projected to go later in the round or even undrafted due to his injury history and lack of production during college games but it’s important to note that wide receiver was a key need for them following Calvin Ridley’s departure making it a justifiable selection

While some may consider this draft class not as successful as others in terms of ranking from critics perspective but there is rationale behind their selections by making strategic moves and addressing key needs while utilizing their draft picks wisely
