Breaking Stigmas and Raising Funds: The On Our Sleeves 5K Event for Children’s Mental Health Awareness

5K charity run supports mental health services for children

Whitney Raglin Bignall, associate clinical director for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, emphasized the importance of talking about mental health and breaking stigmas surrounding it. She highlighted the significance of bringing awareness and fundraising efforts to help support this cause.

The On Our Sleeves 5K event kicked off at the Columbus Crew’s Lower.com Field on Saturday, with almost 2,000 participants deciding to take advantage of the outdoors for a good cause. The community run and walk aimed to raise awareness, break stigmas, and raise funds for On Our Sleeves, a foundation dedicated to addressing children’s mental health.

The proceeds from the event will support the foundation in continuing to provide free mental health resources. Over 6 million people across the United States have engaged with the movement’s free pediatric mental health education resources since 2018.
