Breaking the Stigma: El Paso County’s Men’s Resource Fair Tackles Suicide Prevention Among Men

Local Men Connected to Mental Health Services through Men’s Resource Fair

The El Paso County Department of Human Services in Colorado Springs organized the Men’s Resource Fair in response to data showing that men are three times more likely to die from suicide than women. The event aimed to connect local men with available resources to help them address various needs.

At the fair, attendees had the opportunity to interact with representatives from a variety of organizations offering assistance. Resources centered around securing housing, finding employment, and accessing legal and mental health support were all highlighted during the event.

Jesse Vasquez, organizer of the event, emphasized the importance of connecting participants with community resources as he said that his department alone cannot provide all the necessary support. He also mentioned the abundance of excellent resources available to assist men in the region.

For those who may have missed the Men’s Resource Fair, information about the available resources can be found on the Colorado Department of Human Services website. Additionally, KOAA News5 offers a free streaming app for viewers to stay informed on important news and events in the area.
