Brewers Pitcher Junis Injured in Neck by Ball During Batting Practice: Update on Condition

Jakob Junis, Brewers pitcher, taken to hospital after ball strike to neck during batting practice

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jakob Junis is currently in a local hospital in Pittsburgh after being struck in the neck by a ball during batting practice. The incident occurred while Junis was jogging in the outfield at PNC Park during the Pirates’ batting practice. While near the warning track, the ball hit him in the neck, causing him to remain on the field for about 15 minutes before being taken off in an ambulance.

Junius, a 31-year-old pitcher, signed with the Brewers on a one-year, $7 million deal this past offseason after spending time with the Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants. Despite this setback, Junis has been performing well this season and has made one start with a 2.25 ERA. The incident occurred prior to the Brewers’ game against the Pirates in Pittsburgh, and fortunately, Junis is alert, conscious, and responsive at the hospital while receiving further evaluation.

The Brewers have been performing exceptionally well so far this season and are currently holding a 14-6 record. They entered into this series against the Pirates on a four-game winning streak after sweeping their series against St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend.
