Chile Expel Venezuelan Immigrants as Part of Ongoing Efforts to Combat Crime and Protect Immigration Laws

Chile deports 65 Venezuelans due to criminal activities and immigration violations

On Friday, the Chilean government expelled 65 Venezuelans from the country on a chartered flight. Out of this group, 55 individuals had committed crimes while the remaining 10 were expelled for entering the country without regular passports. According to Luis Eduardo Thayer, director of Chile’s National Immigration Service, this group represents a minority of foreigners in the country but their actions cause significant damage. The government is determined to address such issues through flights like the one on Friday, as well as others that are being coordinated.

This year, a total of 411 immigrants from various countries have been expelled from Chile. Of these, 208 were removed for administrative reasons related to immigration rules and 203 for legal reasons. In April, the Chilean Public Ministry revealed that the murder of former Venezuelan lieutenant Ronald Ojeda Moreno in March was planned in Venezuela. Investigations pointed to the involvement of criminal group Trem de Arágua operating under the protection of dictator Nicolás Maduro. This incident shed light on the complex nature of crime and security issues involving foreign nationals in Chile.

These expulsions highlight the importance of maintaining security and upholding immigration laws in Chile. The swift action taken by the government in removing individuals who pose a threat or violate regulations is crucial in ensuring the safety and stability of the country. Going forward, continued cooperation and coordination between Chilean authorities and international partners will be essential in addressing these challenges and protecting the well-being of all residents in Chile.
