CHWs are crucial in maintaining the health and safety of Abilene and Taylor County residents. These community health workers listen to the needs of the community members and effectively communicate these needs to the Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District (ATCPHD). Their primary role is to help the community access the necessary resources to promote and maintain good health. This involves engaging in outreach efforts, fostering communication, and building connections within the community.
Ideal candidates for the CHW position are those who can work well in a team environment, are able to break down cultural and socio-economic barriers between the community and ATCPHD, and can establish strong working relationships with groups and families from diverse backgrounds.
