Dessau-Roßlau on Edge as Wild Boa Constrictor Stalks Residential Area

Two-meter constrictor snake missing in residential area of Dessau-Roßlau

Boa constrictors are native to South America and can grow up to three meters long, using their powerful muscles to kill prey by strangling them. To legally keep such an exotic animal in Saxony-Anhalt, approval from a veterinarian is required. However, it seems that one resident in Dessau-Roßlau may have been keeping one without proper authorization.

On Sunday, emergency services in Dessau-Roßlau were alerted to the possibility of a large boa constrictor roaming freely in a residential area. Despite efforts by city officials and a large contingent of emergency services, the snake still remains at large. The only evidence found so far is a two-meter-long snake skin with a red-brown pattern, indicating it may be a king snake.

Residents in the area where the skin was found have been questioned, but no one seems to know of anyone illegally keeping a snake in their home. This has led some residents to speculate that the sighting may have been a prank, as obtaining a real snake skin is not an easy task. However, authorities remain cautious and are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any sightings of the boa constrictor to them immediately.

As the community remains on edge, the search for the boa constrictor continues. It is important for residents to remember that these snakes are dangerous and should not be approached or handled without proper training and equipment. If you see any signs of an illegal pet snake or other exotic animals, please contact your local authorities immediately for assistance.
