Dynamic Duo: USA Hockey’s Addition of Kevin Hayes and Matthew Kessel to its World Championship Roster

Hayes and Kessel announced as latest additions to Team USA roster for World Championship

The USA Hockey team announced the addition of two new players to its roster for the 2024 IIHF World Championship. Kevin Hayes and Matthew Kessel from the St. Louis Blues will be joining the team, which will take place in Prague and Ostrava, Czechia from May 10th to 26th.

Kevin Hayes, a native of Dorchester, Massachusetts, will be making his third appearance at the World Championship. In his first year with the Blues last season, he recorded an impressive 29 points, including 13 goals and 16 assists, along with 12 penalty minutes in 79 regular-season games. Hayes has played a total of 10 NHL seasons and has accumulated an impressive career record of 415 points in 713 regular-season games.

On the other hand, Matthew Kessel will be making his debut for Team USA at the World Championship. During his rookie season with the Blues last year, he posted seven points with one goal, six assists, and 12 penalty minutes in just 39 regular-season games. Additionally, Kessel was also productive with the Blues’ AHL affiliate Springfield Thunderbirds where he tallied eight points including three goals and five assists while also accumulating 16 penalty minutes in just 36 regular-season games.
