Eagles Strengthen Offensive Line with Addition of Former Jet Tackle Mekhi Becton

Mekhi Becton set to join Eagles

This weekend, the Eagles made some significant moves for their offensive line. The team drafted a pair of linemen and signed former Jets tackle Mekhi Becton to a one-year contract. Becton, a 2020 first-round pick, will be joining the team on a deal worth up to $5.5 million. With Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata already on hand at tackle, Becton is expected to take on a swing tackle role once he passes a physical and officially signs with the NFC East club.

Becton had a promising rookie season with the Jets but struggled with knee injuries that limited him to only one game over the next two seasons. Despite his talent, the Jets opted not to pick up his 2025 option and did not make a move to re-sign him after he started 16 games in the 2023 season. Now, Becton will have a fresh start with the Eagles and the opportunity to showcase his talents on a new team.
