Four workers injured by electrical burns while repairing underground cables

On May 8th, four workers from Cho Lon Electricity Company were severely burned in an electrical short circuit, fire, and explosion while working on repairing electricity at an underground cable line. The workers, aged between 28 and 46 years old, sustained injuries ranging from 2nd to 3rd degree burns covering anywhere from 10% to 80% of their bodies.

Dr. Ngo Duc Hiep, the Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Cho Ray Hospital, shared details about the most critically injured patient, a 28-year-old male with burns covering 80% of his body. The patient received immediate treatment for pain relief, intravenous fluids, tetanus prevention, blood tests, and CT scans of the head, chest, and abdomen before being transferred to the Department of Plastic Surgery for further care. His prognosis remains uncertain due to the extensive nature of his injuries.

The other three patients included a 46-year-old man with burns on his head and face, a 37-year-old male with burns on his ear and hands, and another 37-year-old with burns on his hand and ankle. They were treated for pain relief and tetanus prevention before being discharged from the hospital.
