Ellsworth: Joining the World in Jane’s Walk and Celebrating Community Pride

Global and Local Jane’s Walks in Ellsworth.

In Ellsworth, Maine, the community is coming together to participate in Jane’s Walk this year. This global event will take place on Saturday and will be joined by over 500 cities worldwide. This is the third year that Ellsworth has taken part in this initiative to honor the late writer and activist, Jane Jacobs, who was passionate about building up communities.

Heart of Ellsworth, GrowSmart Maine, and the Ellsworth Historical Society have partnered to organize two walks taking place on Saturday. The first walk, which focuses on nature, will start at 10:00 a.m. at the River Walk North trail head behind the Ellsworth Public Library. The second walk, centered around historical Ellsworth, will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Old Burial Grounds on State Street.

The goal of these walks is to encourage people to connect with their community and develop a sense of pride for where they live and work. By participating in Jane’s Walk, individuals can learn more about their neighborhoods while also celebrating the unique character of their community.
