Eugene-Area High School Athletes Excel in Spring Sports: This Week’s Register-Guard Athlete of the Week Nominees

As the high school spring sports season draws to a close, Eugene-area athletes are continuing to excel in their respective sports. This week’s Register-Guard Athlete of the Week nominees include athletes from various schools and sports. The nominees are Reagan Kumle from Springfield softball, McKenzie Larsen from Churchill girls tennis, Trison Hedges from Thurston boys golf, Aiden Hibler from North Eugene baseball, Anthony Angelastro from Marist boys golf, Francesca Tomp from North Eugene girls golf, and Camille Gamble from Thurston girls golf. Each athlete has shown exceptional skills and performances in recent competitions.

Reagan Kumle had an outstanding game with a double, three RBIs, and a run scored in a 10-3 victory over Ashland. Meanwhile, McKenzie Larsen secured two wins at No. 1 singles, defeating opponents from North Eugene and Willamette. Trison Hedges finished second at the boys 5A Midwestern League District Championships with a two-day score of 162. Aiden Hibler stood out with four hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored in a series win over Crater.

Additionally, Anthony Angelastro placed third at the Shadow Hills Marshfield Invitational with a score of 81, helping his team win the title. Francesca Tomp won the girls 5A Midwestern League District Championships with a score of 152
