FedEx Leans on Electric Vehicles for Sustainable Delivery Solutions with Shyft Group’s Blue Arc Subsidiary

Shyft Group receives order for 150 electric trucks from FedEx

Shyft Group recently announced that its Blue Arc subsidiary has received an order from FedEx for 150 camion Blue Arc EV vehicles to be integrated into FedEx’s pickup and delivery fleet in the United States. This is a significant step towards sustainable and efficient delivery solutions in the country. The integration of electric vehicles into logistics operations reflects a broader industry trend towards reducing carbon emissions and addressing environmental concerns.

The collaboration between Shyft Group’s Blue Arc subsidiary, FedEx, and Proterra marks a significant step towards sustainable and efficient delivery solutions in the United States. The partnership was in place when the deal with FedEx was announced, with Proterra providing the batteries for the vehicles, specifically their H-series battery system which enables a range of approximately 150 to 175 miles.

According to Shyft Group’s press release, FedEx conducted real-life testing of the vehicle in Memphis, where the Blue Arc truck completed extended drives in challenging conditions, including high temperatures. The success of the Blue Arc trucks in real-world conditions bodes well for the future of electric vehicle adoption in the delivery sector.

Shyft Group produces its electric delivery trucks at a manufacturing plant in Charlotte, Michigan, with production commencing last year. With this new order from FedEx, it is clear that there is growing demand for sustainable and efficient delivery solutions in the country. As more companies look to reduce their carbon footprint and address environmental concerns, it is likely that we will see more partnerships like this one emerge in the future.
