From Atlanta to Springfield: Man Charged with Forgery and Theft in Boone County, Georgia

Georgia man charged with fraud in multi-state scheme targeting Boone County business

A man from Atlanta, Georgia has been charged with multiple felonies in Boone County for defrauding a local business. Cordary McFarland has been accused of six counts of forgery and three counts of stealing. Despite the charges, he is not currently in custody and a $100,000 bond has been set. According to the bond memo, McFarland is believed to be in Springfield, Missouri, after authorities tracked his phone and rental car from Indianapolis, Indiana.

McFarland is alleged to have been traveling around the country with the intent of passing forged documents to banks and financial institutions in order to steal money. It is believed that he has associates in Georgia who assist him in his criminal activities by providing him with rental cars and airline flights.

An employee of a local business reported three fraudulent transactions involving forged checks totaling $1,810.17, $2,852.17, and $2,587.18. The probable cause statement indicates that McFarland is suspected of using these checks to purchase goods and services from the business without paying for them.
