CCA Places Third in Division 5 at National Tournament

In the consolation game of the National Christian School basketball tournament, Chautauqua Christian Academy’s Sawyer Lynn made a crucial 3-pointer in the final minute of overtime to help lead Faith Christian of West Virginia to a 67-60 victory. The team showcased their skills and determination throughout the competition, ultimately finishing third in Division 5 after a strong performance. Their only loss came in the quarterfinals against the eventual champions from Maryland.

The Defenders staged an impressive comeback in the consolation game, overcoming a five-point deficit with a minute remaining in regulation to force overtime. Led by standout players like Marcus Ryan and Sawyer Lynn, the team maintained their momentum in the extra period and secured the win with Lynn’s clutch 3-pointer. Lynn ended the game with 19 points, including three 3-pointers, while Ryan excelled with 34 points on only 22 shots, including five 3-pointers.

Hunter Edwards contributed with 10 rebounds and Kayden Peterson showcased outstanding defense throughout the game. Both Ryan and Lynn were recognized for their performances by being named to the All-Tournament team. The Defenders displayed excellent teamwork and determination throughout the tournament, ultimately finishing third in Division 5 after a strong performance that included impressive comebacks and outstanding individual performances from standout players like Marcus Ryan and Sawyer Lynn.
