From NFL Prodigy to Potential CFL Star: Saskatchewan Roughriders Express Interest in Signing Chase Claypool

Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL secure exclusive negotiating rights with Chase Claypool

The Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL have shown interest in signing Chase Claypool, a former second-round pick of the Steelers who is currently a free agent. Despite not being signed during the current signing cycle, Claypool has been added to the Roughriders’ exclusive negotiating list, giving them the first opportunity to sign him if he decides to join the CFL.

Claypool had a promising start to his career as a rookie, scoring 11 total touchdowns and accumulating 873 receiving yards. However, his production declined in his second season with the Steelers and was eventually traded to the Bears for a second-round pick. After a brief stint with the Dolphins, Claypool has struggled to find a new team in the NFL.

Despite his early successes in football, Claypool’s fortunes have taken a turn for the worse in recent seasons. It remains uncertain whether he will get another chance in the NFL after the draft or if he will have to wait for injuries to occur before getting another chance to showcase his talent once again.
