FSU and Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare Form Partnership to Transform Healthcare in North Florida with $125 Million Academic Health Center Construction and Medical Campus Development

Florida State University and Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare collaborate on development of new medical facilities

Florida State University and Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop an academic health center in Tallahassee, as well as a medical campus in Panama City Beach. This partnership, announced on Monday, aims to transform the healthcare ecosystem in North Florida.

FSU President Richard McCullough expressed his excitement for the initiative, which was made possible by funding provided by the Legislature and Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2022. The $125 million allocated to FSU for construction will be used to build the academic health center on Tallahassee Memorial property, with construction set to begin soon and completion expected by 2026.

The memorandum of understanding outlines the creation of a nonprofit corporation that will oversee research and clinical-education decisions for both the academic health center and medical campus. In addition to FSU, Tallahassee Memorial and The St. Joe Co. are collaborating on the development of the medical campus in Panama City Beach, which is expected to open later this year as part of the FSU Health initiative.
