Fuchs Audio Technology’s New FTDI-1 Tube DI Unit: A Must-Have for Guitarists and Pro Sound Engineers

Introducing the FTDI-1 Tube DI Interface by Fuchs Audio Technology

Fuchs Audio Technology has recently released the FTDI-1, which is the first in a series of studio and sound reinforcement products that they have been working on. The upcoming lineup includes a mic preamp and other studio and pro-sound products that are currently in development.

Fuchs Audio Technology has an impressive list of reviews and endorsers over the past 20 years, with many well-known clients ranging from Carlos Santana to Jimmy Herring, and jazz legends like Dave Stryker and Vic Juris. The company’s founder, Andy, has decades of experience as a working musician and has been servicing and tweaking guitar and bass amps for many years.

The Fuchs FTDI-1 is a tube DI unit that provides tube warmth in a compact size that is ideal for pedalboards. It runs on 9-volt power and uses a switch mode power supply to increase the incoming 9 volts to 300 volts, ensuring the tube runs at the proper “True High Voltage.” It features the widely used 12AX7 tube and ships with selected low-noise Ruby Tubes. The FTDI-1 is made in America and is one of the most affordable units in the market at $599.00 MAP.

The unit includes a quarter-inch input and a ¼” buffered “through” output, as well as an Edcor transformer balanced output, all with Neutrik connectors. Despite its small and lightweight design, it features a lit window that displays the 12AX7 audio tube. It is powered by a regulated switch-mode power supply, making it compatible with any pedal power supply that can provide 500ma at 9 volts. Overall, the FTDI-1 is small, cool-running, low-noise, and delivers a musical sound.
