Google Unveils AI-Powered Search Generative Experience for Trip Planning, Now Available in 5 Countries with Multiple Languages Support

AI-powered Google tool creates personalized travel itineraries for users through generative search experience

Google has recently unveiled a new feature called Search Generative Experience (SGE) that allows users to create personalized itineraries and plan trips using AI. This experimental feature was first introduced at Google I/O last year and offers multiple perspectives on search queries by providing overviews and additional links at the top of search results. Initially available in the US in English, SGE has since expanded to countries such as Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, and South Africa with language support in Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, and Indonesian.

In addition to this update, Google has also introduced new capabilities powered by generative AI in Search to assist with trip planning. Users can now receive suggestions for activities, restaurants, flights, and hotels all organized in one place for easy comparison and deeper exploration. The itineraries displayed will include information such as reviews, links, and photographs of businesses or establishments. These travel ideas can be easily exported to other Google services like Docs, Gmail or Maps by registering with Search Labs and enabling SGE.

Furthermore, Google now provides lists of recommendations for tourist places when users search for specific locations in the US and Canada. This update allows users to personalize their lists of places to visit, organize travel plans and easily share saved places on Maps. These lists can be linked to content on the map to provide context about why they were saved. Both updates will be available on Google Maps for iOS and Android devices worldwide by the end of the month.
