A water sample taken on April 2nd revealed the presence of these harmful blooms, which have led to concerns for public safety. It is advised that no one should drink, swim, wade, or use any personal watercraft, boat, or water ski in the lake where the blooms are visible.

If you do come into contact with the algae or discolored and smelly water, it is important to wash your skin and clothing thoroughly with soap. Additionally, it is recommended to keep your pets out of the harmful waters. It is strongly advised not to use the lake water for washing dishes or cooking, and to avoid eating any shellfish from the lake where the blooms are present. However, fish caught from the lake are still considered safe to eat as long as they are washed thoroughly with bottled or tap water.
