Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu: We Will Not Back Down from Hamas Demands until Our Goals are Met

Today’s Negotiations and Netanyahu’s Attack on Hamas Fuel New War in Gaza

In a recent statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that Israel will not accept Hamas’ demands and will continue to fight until all its objectives are met. He criticized Hamas for remaining stubborn in their positions and accused the group of threatening the safety of Israeli citizens.

Hamas has called for a ceasefire agreement that would put an end to aggression, guarantee the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, and include a significant prisoner exchange. The political leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, accused Netanyahu of continuing aggression and making efforts to widen the conflict by sabotaging negotiations through various parties.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned that if an agreement is not reached soon, an operation in Rafah could begin imminently. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken cautioned against any potential damage from an Israeli military operation without a plan to protect Palestinian civilians. Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi signed off on provisions to shut down al-Jazeera in Israel, citing concerns about incitement against Israel and the security of IDF soldiers.

Hamas condemned Israel’s decision to shut down al-Jazeera, stating it was a violation of freedom of the press and a retaliation against the network’s work. The group called on international organizations to condemn the move and impose punitive measures. Tensions remain high in the region with reports of rocket attacks from Lebanon and the arrest of a knife-wielding woman in Jerusalem.

Since October 7th, over 100 people have been killed or injured as a result of ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza Strip. Both sides remain firm on their positions, showing little willingness to compromise during peace negotiations which continue but prospects for ceasefire remain uncertain.
