Josselyn, a mental health provider in Lake County, has expanded its services to cover the entire county in response to a growing need for accessible mental health care. The community mental health center’s CEO and president, Susan Resko, shared that their clinics serve over 8,000 clients regularly and receive over 1,000 calls each month. While the pandemic may have subsided, the need for mental health services remains strong according to Resko.
The recent expansion of Josselyn has made it easier for individuals in areas like Waukegan, Grayslake, and Highland Park to access treatment. This expansion has allowed the organization to reach more people than ever before. Camilo Morales, the clinical coordinator, expressed his pride in the growth of services and highlighted how it enables them to assist individuals who were previously underserved.
Josselyn now offers a Spanish language option on its website and has bilingual therapists like Morales to support those who primarily speak Spanish. Morales emphasized the importance of understanding and shared experiences in providing effective therapy to clients. One Josselyn client, Robert Robbins, shared his journey from homelessness and substance abuse to long-term sobriety, crediting Josselyn’s wraparound services for his recovery and growth.
Chloe Brodner, the assistant director of clinic services at Josselyn explained that they offer a variety of therapeutic options including traditional therapy as well as an expressive arts program featuring art, dance and music. This diversity in services allows them to cater to the unique needs and preferences of each individual seeking support at their clinics.”
