Journeying Through the World’s Culinary Landscapes: Shannon Smith’s Tulsa-Based Cookbook

Oklahoma Chef Shares Culinary Adventures and Recipes from Around the Globe

Shannon Smith, a private chef from Tulsa, has traveled the world and used her experiences to write a unique cookbook. Inspired by her travels, she created a book that includes stories from her adventures, as well as recipes she learned from the different cultures she encountered.

Smith began cooking around 20 years ago and has since visited 53 countries. As she learned to cook and teach cooking classes, she made it a point to immerse herself in different cultures to understand how they prepare their food. During her travels, Smith met people who shared their cultures and recipes with her. Over the span of six years, she documented these experiences along with pictures and recipes in her book.

Each chapter in the book represents a different place where Smith has cooked, with only one chapter dedicated to the United States, specifically New Mexico. Featuring 12 chapters, each containing 10 to 11 recipes, Smith’s cookbook is a reflection of the diverse cuisines she has encountered in her travels. She self-published the book, making it exclusively available for purchase on her website, chefshannon.com.
