Long Island Community Hospital to Merge with NYU Langone Health: Affiliation Expected to Boost Resources and Expand Healthcare Services

NYU Langone Health and Long Island Hospital Move Closer to Merger

Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, N.Y., is currently in the process of merging with NYU Langone Health based in New York City. According to a spokesperson for the health system, the merger is expected to be completed within a year. While Long Island Community Hospital remains a separate corporation for now, its affiliation with NYU Langone allows it to access the resources of the larger health system.

The affiliation between the two hospitals was approved by state and federal authorities in 2022, with NYU Langone becoming the active parent of the 306-bed medical center. The two organizations initially announced their plans for affiliation in the summer of 2021. Once the merger is finalized, Long Island Community Hospital will receive a new name and become a part of a division within the NYU Langone hospital system.
