Netanyahu Defiant: Israel to Ignore ICC’s ‘Unjust’ Decisions on Self-Defense

Netanyahu Rejects ICC Authority, Citing Concerns over Right to Defense

In a statement made on Friday, the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, declared that his government would never recognize the authority of the International Criminal Court (ICC). He accused the ICC of trying to undermine Israel’s right to self-defense by potentially ordering the arrest of Israeli soldiers and ministers. Netanyahu emphasized that the threat against IDF soldiers and public figures in Israel, which is the only democracy in the Middle East and the only Jewish state in the world, was unacceptable.

In a message posted on his Telegram account, Netanyahu stated that Israel will continue to defend itself against terrorists who seek to destroy it. He emphasized that ICC decisions would not impact Israel’s actions but could set a dangerous precedent for democracies around the world fighting against terrorism and aggression. Last week, reports emerged that Netanyahu’s cabinet convened an emergency meeting following news of a possible investigation into alleged violations of international law in Gaza by Israeli soldiers and ministers. Netanyahu reiterated his government’s stance on defending Israel’s actions and denounced any interference from outside parties.
