New Equipment Rental Office and Banking Merger in Christiansburg and Roanoke: What You Need to Know

Christiansburg Welcomes Carter Machinery

Carter Machinery has been granted permission by the Christiansburg Town Council to establish an office for equipment sales and rentals on Roanoke Street. The decision was made in a 4-1 vote, with councilman Johana Hicks voting against it and councilwoman Kim Bowman abstaining. The plans for the establishment are currently under review by the town building and engineering office, and an official opening date has not been announced yet.

Carter Machinery, based in Salem, specializes in the sale, rental, and support of Caterpillar brand equipment, engines, and electric power generation systems. The new location in Christiansburg will offer equipment rentals for construction machinery, tools, and other equipment. Currently, the nearest store to Christiansburg is located in Salem.

In other local business news, Atlantic Union Bank has completed its acquisition of American National Bank & Trust of Danville. The bank will continue to operate the existing American National branch located at 202 S. Jefferson St. at the intersection with Campbell Avenue in downtown Roanoke. The branch will be rebranded under the Atlantic Union name by the end of May.

As a result of this merger, American National Bank will join Atlantic Union Bank in the Roanoke Valley, where Atlantic is ranked seventh in terms of deposit market share while American National was previously ranked fourth. In the New River Valley region, Atlantic Union Bank holds the second position while American National Bank is ranked ninth in market share. This acquisition will bring changes to the banking landscape in these areas.
