New High-Pressure Pipe Factory Opens in Suez Canal Economic Zone, Boosting Egypt’s Cast Iron Industry

Suez welcomes $146 million Chinese steel factory

The Suez Canal Economic Zone recently witnessed the groundbreaking of a new factory that will produce high-pressure pipes from flexible cast iron. Investments totaling $146 million have been made in the project, which is being established by the Chinese Shen Xing Company. The factory will occupy a 270 thousand square meter area and focus on producing high-pressure pipes ranging from 100 mm to 1000 mm. With an annual production capacity of 240 thousand tons, it is expected to create 714 direct job opportunities.

In March, a contract was signed to transfer the usufruct of the project area within the TEDA Industrial Zone to the “Xin Shing” Company for the Manufacture of Ductile Pipes. The Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Walid Gamal El-Din, attended the inauguration of the foundation stone along with other Chinese officials. The construction of the factory is set to be completed by the first quarter of 2025, highlighting Egypt’s commitment to localizing its cast iron pipe industry and reducing imports to meet local market needs.
