New Zealand Cricket Veteran Corey Anderson Joins USA Squad for 2024 T20 World Cup

Corey Anderson, ex-New Zealand fast bowler, selected for USA squad in 2024 T20 World Cup

Corey Anderson, who has represented New Zealand in the ODI World Cup in 2015 and the T20 World Cup in 2014 and 2016, has been named in the USA squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. The tournament will be held in June and co-hosted by USA and the West Indies.

Ali Khan, who has not played a T20I since July 2022, has also been included in the squad, along with Shayan Jahangir. Gajanand Singh and Usman Rafiq have been left out of the squad after the series against Canada in April.

The captain and vice-captain for the upcoming T20 World Cup, Monank Patel and Aaron Jones, have been retained in their positions. Ali Khan, known for his experience in T20 leagues around the world, has only played six T20I matches but his expertise was a desirable asset for the selectors. Jahangir, who began his cricketing career in Pakistan, has played 12 ODIs for USA.

Milind Kumar, a former Delhi batsman who topped the run-scoring charts in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy, has also earned a place in the USA squad. The team will kick off the tournament by playing against Canada in Dallas on June 1.
