Newest Sanctions: US Gathers Corporations to Cut Off Russia’s Weapons Path through Ukraine Protests

Firstpost: US escalates efforts to block technology flow to Russia for weapons

Russian invasion of Ukraine has sparked protests near the White House in Washington, US. Supporters gathered to show solidarity with Ukraine and express their concerns about the ongoing conflict. In response, the US has requested that over 600 foreign parties cease exporting commodities that could be used to support Russia’s military efforts in Ukraine.

The US Commerce Department sent letters to at least 20 corporations that produce and market parts used in drones and missiles found in Ukraine. The aim is to disrupt Russia’s military operations and limit its access to Western technologies. Despite sanctions imposed by the US and other nations on Moscow, American components have been discovered in Russian weapons left on the battlefield in Ukraine. The US government is urging American companies to voluntarily stop shipping to certain foreign parties to reduce the risk of these supplies ending up in Russia.

Assistant Secretary Matthew Axelrod stated that US officials from various departments are working with companies to prevent their products from being used by Russia in the conflict. The US is taking steps to ensure that American businesses are not inadvertently contributing to Russia’s military efforts in Ukraine.
