Assistant City Manager Brandon Branham highlighted the concerning statistics of 1,000 cyclist deaths and 130,000 injuries in crashes across the country annually. The city’s Curiosity Lab serves as a testing ground for cutting-edge technology that aims to prevent accidents and injuries on the road. Branham mentioned the Spoke Companion App as one of the tools being tested. This app enables cyclists and drivers to see each other on the road and alerts them to potential collisions.
By leveraging these advanced tools, Peachtree Corners hopes to see a decrease in fatalities and an increase in overall road safety. Recognizing that technology is still emerging, the city is exploring additional measures such as digital signage to alert drivers and cyclists.
