PrizePicks, a Fantasy Sports Company, Plans to Hire 1,000 Employees in Atlanta Following Lease of New Headquarters

PrizePicks, a fantasy sports company based in Atlanta, has announced plans to expand its operations in the city by hiring an additional 1,000 employees over a seven-year period. The company will be leasing an office building northwest of downtown for its new headquarters and making an investment of $25 million.

Currently, PrizePicks has over 500 full-time and 160 part-time employees, with some located in the Philippines. The expansion is seen as a move to further establish Atlanta as the company’s home base for redefining mobile sports entertainment. While sports betting remains illegal in Georgia, fantasy sports websites like PrizePicks operate in the state by offering games of skill for cash prizes based on the performance of athletes.

PrizePicks spokesperson Elisa Richardson highlighted that PrizePicks is a nationally recognized game of skill, aligning with Georgia’s history of legalized skill games. The announcement of the expansion has been met with approval from civic leaders who believe it showcases Atlanta as a hub for technical talent due to its universities and favorable quality of life with global connections through its airport.

Governor Brian Kemp praised Georgia for its continued role in driving tech innovation and growth, attracting companies like PrizePicks due to the state’s unique mix of talent and infrastructure. While the incentives offered to PrizePicks by state and local officials were not disclosed, the company could potentially receive $8.75 million in state income tax credits over five years based on the number of jobs created and the income the workers earn annually.
