2024 FIDE World Championship Match

The upcoming FIDE World Chess Championship Match promises to be an exciting event that will determine the next chess world champion. This match, which is the culmination of the FIDE World Championship Cycle, will feature current world champion Ding Liren of China against Gukesh D, the youngest challenger in chess history.

The match is scheduled to take place between November 20 and December 15, 2024. FIDE has already opened up bids to host the event, and applicants are required to fill out a Bidding Form and submit it by May 31, 2024. Along with this form, applicants must also provide supporting documents in English.

FIDE has set certain basic provisions for the event that must be followed. These include a maximum duration of up to 25 days, approval of regulations by July 1, 2024, a minimum total budget of 8,500,000 USD and a minimum prize fund of 2,500,000 USD.

FIDE reserves the right to negotiate with applicants before making a final decision based on various factors such as the development of chess. This means that there is still time for potential hosts to improve or modify their bids before being considered for hosting this prestigious event.
