Rakuten Mobile Teams Up with South Korean Operator Stage X for Technology Collaboration

Rakuten Mobile, Rakuten Symphony, and South Korean mobile network operator STAGE X have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a comprehensive framework for collaboration in technology and business exchange. The agreement aims to bring together the newest mobile network operators in Japan and Korea for technological collaboration and business synergies.

The MoU includes sharing industry knowledge and expertise from Rakuten Mobile, as well as providing telecom solutions from Rakuten Symphony. Discussions will cover various aspects of Stage X’s upcoming projects, from business operations to technical areas. The companies will also explore cooperation for expansion to mid-band frequency and the development of a 6G-based national network from a long-term perspective.

As Stage X builds its infrastructure for 5G services, they look forward to collaborating with Rakuten and learning from their experience in deploying the world’s first fully virtualized, cloud-native mobile network in Japan. The CEO of Stage X, Sangwon Seo, expressed the desire for broad cooperation among the three companies, recognizing that there are significant synergies to be leveraged by working together. The CEO of Rakuten Mobile and President of Rakuten Symphony highlighted the excitement about collaborating with South Korea’s newest mobile network operator, believing that this MoU will create opportunities for industry-changing advancements for Stage X.
