16-year-old newbie Kris Kim impresses golf world by making the cut in PGA Tour debut

16-year-old amateur golfer Kris Kim from England has made history by making the cut on his PGA Tour debut at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. His impressive performance surpassed the record held by Jordan Spieth in 2010, making him the youngest player to make the cut on tour in nine years.

Kim carded a three-under-68 first round and a four-under-67 second round, showing little signs of nerves as he shot a birdie putt on the 18th hole to secure his spot in the cut. Despite admitting to feeling nerves on the cut line, Kim expressed his joy at being able to continue playing for two more days.

Kim was introduced to golf by his mother, former professional golfer Ji-Hyun Suh, and has had a successful amateur career so far, winning various championships. His mother now serves as his swing coach, helping him reach new heights in the world of golf. After making the cut, Kim sits in a tie for 36th place, seven shots behind overnight leader Jake Knapp. Kim will tee off for the third round on Saturday morning, while the final pairing of Knapp and Troy Merritt will tee off in the afternoon. Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth, whose previous record Kim broke, failed to make the cut due to a wrist injury.
