Recycling in Indiana: Unlocking Funding with RMDP’s Grant Proposals

Funding now accessible to enhance Indiana’s recycling economy

The Indiana Recycling Market Development Program (RMDP) is currently looking for grant proposals to fund recycling projects in the state. The program is open to businesses, local governments, solid waste management districts, higher education institutions, and nonprofit organizations.

The RMDP grants are aimed at promoting sustainability and understanding the changing economy for recyclers. Proposals should focus on expanding recycling in Indiana through increased markets, manufacturing capacity, and job creation. To be eligible, projects must demonstrate economic impact, increased public awareness through outreach and education efforts, and achieve at least one of the following outcomes: an increase in the amount of recyclable material collected or used, a reduction in municipal solid waste sent for final disposal, or improved partnerships with communities.

The deadline for submitting proposals is June 13. Projects that meet the eligibility criteria will be reviewed by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), with final funding decisions being made in the fall. Interested parties can visit the RMDP website for more information on how to apply and what project guidelines they need to follow.
