Resilient World Central Kitchen Plans to Restart Aid Operations in Gaza, Opening “Damian’s Kitchen” After Tragic Airstrike”.

World Central Kitchen to restart providing meals in Gaza following deadly Israeli attack

In the aftermath of the tragic airstrike that claimed the lives of seven World Central Kitchen workers in Gaza on April 1, the organization has announced plans to restart its aid operations in the region on Monday. The attack, which occurred during a ceasefire, disrupted the crucial flow of food into the war-torn strip, where many displaced residents are facing starvation.

Prior to the airstrike, World Central Kitchen had distributed over 43 million meals in Gaza. However, after the attack, many organizations withdrew their aid workers from the area and called for an investigation into the civilian deaths. President Joe Biden also criticized Israel for not doing enough to protect civilians.

Despite these challenges and dangers, World Central Kitchen is determined to continue its mission of providing humanitarian assistance to those in need. To this end, they have vehicles and millions of meals ready to deliver through the Rafah Crossing and will be opening a new kitchen in the region named “Damian’s Kitchen” in memory of one of their workers killed in the airstrike.

Chief Executive Officer Erin Gore emphasized the importance of continuing their mission despite ongoing risks and challenges. She stated that “our team is committed to providing food to those who need it most.”
