Rising Star Taylor Pendrith Wins First PGA Tour Title at CJ Cup Byron Nelson

Taylor Pendrith secures first win at CJ Cup Byron Nelson with two-shot swing on final hole

Taylor Pendrith has secured his first PGA Tour title with a victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in McKinney, Texas. After being tied neck and neck with Ben Kohles throughout most of the day, Pendrith capitalized on Kohles’ final-hole meltdown to win by a stroke.

Kohles had briefly overtaken Pendrith with birdies on the 16th and 17th holes, but his mistake on the 18th cost him the win. He bogeyed the hole after hitting his second shot into greenside rough and missing a 6-foot putt that would have forced a playoff.

Pendrith finished with a 4-under 67 and a total score of 23-under 261 at TPC Craig Ranch. This win marks his seventh career PGA Tour start and is a significant milestone in his career. He now solidifies himself as a rising star on the tour.

Kohles finished one stroke back with a 66, still seeking his first PGA Tour victory. Alex Noren of Sweden also chased his first PGA Tour win, finishing one stroke behind Kohles at 21 under with a final round 65. Other notable finishers included Aaron Rai and Matt Wallace of England, as well as the South Korean pair of S.H. Kim and Byeong Hun An, all finishing at 20 under.

Jake Knapp, who led after the second round, finished at 19 under after shooting a final round of 70. Knapp and Wallace were the only players in the top eight with previous PGA Tour wins
