Risky Landing at Istanbul Airport: Boeing 767 Skids onto Tarmac without Front Gear

Boeing 767 makes emergency belly landing in Istanbul due to landing gear failure

On Wednesday, there was more fear than harm at Istanbul airport. A FedEx cargo plane had to make an emergency landing on the tarmac without its front landing gear deployed. The Boeing 767 had been flying from Paris-Charles de Gaulle, and as it approached the runway, the pilot notified the control tower about the issue with the nose gear.

Social media showed images of the Boeing touching down on the runway with its rear wheels before skidding along the ground with its nose. Despite the risky maneuver, thankfully no casualties were reported.

Emergency trucks rushed onto the runway to douse the plane with firefighting foam as a precaution. The runway had to be temporarily closed to air traffic while the situation was assessed. This incident adds to a series of plane damages at Boeing and is currently under investigation, causing concern within the group.
