Curtis improved the previous World Junior record by .05 seconds, beating the previous mark set by Olivia Smoliga in 2012.

In addition to setting new records, Curtis also won the 100 back event with a time of 58.05 seconds, becoming the only swimmer in the field to go under a minute. Silvia Scalia held the previous Italian record in this event with a time of 26.18 seconds in 2021, while Russia’s Maria Kameneva set the previous European Junior record with a time of 26.15 seconds in 2016.
